Top 10: must watch on Netflix

During this quarantine experience, we are all looking for ways to entertain ourselves. Netflix and other entertainment platforms have proved to be an amazing blessing, and we would be in an entirely different scenario without them! It has made me appreciate the wonderful actors and artist’s who, through their movies, songs and tv shows have bought us all some light in this difficult time. I have picked some of my all-time favourites to watch on Netflix. They have bought some entertainment and happiness into my household and I am hoping they do the same for you!  Disclaimer- Some of these movies have mature content and may need parental permission for viewers under the age of 15

1. The Notebook

This film is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. This passionate film exhibits a forbidden but extraordinary love between a poor country boy and a rich city girl. It involves emotional themes of separation, war and devastation. This is a really beautiful movie filled with romance, heartbreak and a twisted happily ever after. I recommend this movie for anyone up for a night of romance mixed with emotion.

2. To All The Boy's I've Loved Before

This movie features the complicated life of Lara Jean Covey, who writes secret letters to all of her previous crushes. Although these letters were only intended for her own eyes, one day her letters were exposed and sent to all her previous loves. Her life is soon thrown into disarray as she is confronted by each of the boys one by one. This movie is perfect for a girls night in. Jam-packed with laughter, heartbreak and a whole lot of chaos!

3. Everything Everything

This curious film provides an insight into the life of Maddy, a fascinating teen suffering from a severe immunodeficiency disorder and is forced to stay inside. Without thinking of the consequences, she falls in love with Olly, the boy who lives next door. This movie is filled with emotion and gives a beautiful insight into another person life, and really makes you grateful for the opportunities and healthy lives we live.

4. The Kissing Booth

Despite the disapproval from her life-long best friend, Elle finds herself face-to-face with her secret crush after she signs up to run a kissing booth at the spring carnival. This is an awesome movie, loaded with drama. Another great one to watch at a sleepover, this movie will leave you wanting more. (After watching this one you will be excited to hear that the sequel is well on its way!)

5. Let It Snow

A snowstorm hits a small midwestern town on Christmas Eve, bringing together a group of high school students. They soon find their friendships and love lives colliding, and come Christmas morning, nothing will be the same... This movie is perfect for Christmas time, creating an atmosphere for the Christmas spirit! It explores a different approach on romance, high school cliches and much more!

6. All The Bright Places After meeting each other, Violet and Theodore struggle with the emotional and physical scars of their past. They discover that even the smallest moments of joy can make a big difference. I would recommend this for an older audience as this film includes heavy topics and explores some mature themes. Nevertheless, this movie initiates a thoughtfulness about those around you and how your positive or negative actions can make an impact on someone's life.

7. Outer Banks This Netflix show ranks in the top 10. The show revolves around a teenager who enlists his three best friends to hunt for a legendary treasure that is linked to his father's disappearance. This show is exciting and adventurous (probably my favourite new tv show). It has you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I would definitely recommend this one for anyone searching for a good storyline, great actors and fabulous directing!

8. A Cinderella Story

Similar to the original cinderella fairytale, Sam is left in the care of her horrible and disrespectful stepmother and stepsisters after the death of her father. She discovers companionship with an online pen pal, Nomad. Definitely a great movie! A Cinderella story is a nice and simple movie that doesn't provoke overly deep thoughts. This makes for an uncomplicated movie night.

9. Clueless

This classic film features the life of Cher, a rich high-school student who is learning to cope with adolescence and all the problems that come with it. She also attempts to help a new student gain popularity, and in the process discovers her own feelings. One of my all-time favourites! If you are looking for a laugh, some drama and some romance this is definitely the movie for you!

10. Twilight

When Bella Swan relocates to Forks, Washington, to live with her father, she meets a mysterious Edward Cullen that captures her attention and interest. Later, she discovers that he is a vampire. Who doesn’t love a vampire flick! The twilight saga is literal gold for anyone who loves to binge watch movies. It really is one of the favourites and one you can’t beat. Romance, adventure and drama, definitely sounds like my cup of tea!
