(Spoilers ahead!)
Aspiring actress Mia Dolan and jazz pianist Sebastian Wilder meet in LA traffic. Mia performs poorly at an audition, and her friends convince her for a night out. During the night, she loses track of her friends and ends up walking down a street in LA and faintly hears a piano song. She walks into a bar and sees Sebastian. She approaches him to tell him how much she enjoyed his song, but he rudely walks off.
They coincidentally meet again a few months later at a party and sing a song together as they walk towards their cars. Later on in the movie, they begin dating and attempt to fulfil their dreams while maintaining their relationship.

Although this film embodies a great storyline about two ambitious stars, it also contains some aspects to it that tarnish the characters. The movie is based on the two of them following their dreams and revealing their determination. One of the problems of this is that they don’t seem to focus on anything other than their dreams and goals which makes it seem like they don't really care about the other people in their lives. We follow them through years of time and neither of them has a religion they follow they're only doing these things for themselves. At some point in the movie, they almost tore each other apart because they struggled to communicate and were not happy with where they were in their career. Later on, they realise they made mistakes and try to get back together. We see at the very end of the movie, Mia is a married actor and Sebastian has opened his own jazz bar and is single. Although we do not see what happens after they part in their mutual respect, we see that they both wanted to encourage each other to succeed in their fields. They both happen to be in the same place at the same time, and they smile at each other as though they're happy for each other. Although this movie presents a more realistic perspective of relationships as Mia and Sebastian have to juggle their careers and relationship. But also shows us that they broke up to follow their careers and as it was more important to them than their relationship. It shows us that not everything ends up happily, but it made the ending seem like they had unfinished business together and that the movie was not over.
